Welcome...
So I thought it would be neat to start a blog as the wife of a soon to be med student...the ups and downs, ins and outs. When this upcoming journey is complete (4 or so years) I hope to make it a little book for our family to look back on.

I'm also writing this blog as a 28 year old stay at home mom to the very handsome Archer Finn and also as me...Kacee...I am still finding "me". This spring a friend challenged me to be a better version of myself. Since the day I received the challenge, I've looked deep inside and decided to start a new journey of discovering a myself.
26.2 miles is MUCH more than a long run. (It was for me anyways) It's a true mental toughness check. I went through every emotion humanly possible last Saturday during my first marathon. I was excited (races in general do this to me)...nervous (hello...26.2 miles, anything could happen...I was entering the unknown!)...angry (when I would grab a water cup loooonging for a cool sip and then realized they put powerade in the cup instead)...bothered (really...rain and 20 mile an hour PLUS winds...then came the HEAT)...surprised (was this really my husband running with me...barefoot...for 2 whole miles?!!!)...lonely (in a 5 mile stretch I saw a ton of familiar faces...and then no one until mile 25.5...that's a very lonely time in between)...READY (I was so ready to do it above all emotions.) I needed this marathon to prove to myself that I was capable of doing something great...something only 1% of the popluation attempts. And I succeeded and fell in love even more with distance running. The marathon was such a personal journey more than anything. Im sure throughout this blog I'll make many references to the race and the passing thoughts I had that day. I can't help it. Running is my passion!
Here we are! 6:30am...ready to go! Sarah (in the middle) trained super hard with us...but 2 days prior found out she couldn't run due to medical reasons. Sad. But she was a very enthusiastic cheerleader along the way! Miss Kelsey (in the black)...rockstar! Had never ran in her life (well a little in highschool)...taught herself to run and finished in a lovely 5:05! About 5 years ago when I moved back from Connecticut Kels and I took a trip to Duluth to watch the Grandmas Marathon and see some friends. We stood at the finish tearing up and saying, "okay, we could do this." Ha...we just had to wait until our 9.9lb babies were born! Just to make it more amazing! (Our babes have NOT celebrated their 1st birthdays!)
I was shooting for a certain time...when I realized I wasn't going to make it, I aceepted it and kept going. I am still happy of my time...3:51! My quads...they weren't so happy by mile 20...and still aren't 100%! But we did it!

Almost there...
Arch and I landed in Fargo this afternoon. We were greeted by a beautiful 85 degree day! Perfect homecoming! The marathon is only 4 days away. I have mixed feelings...MIXED.
I saw a shirt today at the sport shop...
Front: 26.2 Miles...what could go wrong?
Back: named a runners GREATEST fears...from aid stations to freak bathroom breaks.
Again...MIXED emotions.
