Catch Up!

September already?? Time has certainly gotten away from us! To catch up on things...

*Reid started med school and received his white coat
*August was filled with visits to Fargo and friends visiting us
*Archer turned 1

I'm trying to get better at this blogging thing...I feel like mine is a sloppy mess...it's something to work on...:)

Inspired!

So of course once we moved out here one of the CUTEST baby boutiques opened in Fargo. It's called Pout.

Check it out here: www.poutbabyboutique.com

Kris Noonan is the owner and has done a great job. I finally was able to stop in last February and it's now a must-stop-at when I am home!
I just ordered 2 of the cutest backpacks for some friends and Kris and I got to chatting....another runner who may just be inspired to do a FULL!

Happy Running Kris!

Archers First Trip to South Dakota

On the way home from Fargo we made a few stops to see our family and have a few "firsts"!

First taste of ice cream with Aunt Darcey!

First 4-wheeler ride with dad!
(Yes, in his new Samuri costume from Lincon!)

First time hanging out with the Wisers!
(And got the official hand-me-down of the Samuri costume!)

Glory Days

About a year ago I swore I'd never go to my 10 year high school reunion. Then, little by little I changed my mind and finally 2 days before the festivites I decided to go. So we packed up the Saturn and headed out Thursday night for the 14 hour car ride to Fargo. Archer slept most of the ride and did not fuss once until about an hour from Fargo! YAY!

Friday night we headed out for a cocktail hour with the classmates...what a riot! So funny how it had been 10 years but how everyone was still so happy to see eachother and catch up!

Saturday we had a little picnic with the kids then went over to Heidi's for some appetizers before heading to the dinner. Saturday night was filled with lots of laughs as we looked through old year books, and a ton of dancing!

It was like nothing had changed between alot of us...it was like we picked up where we left off. Isn't that the way old friends should always be?

T-16 Weeks...

Marathong Training Round 2 started yesterday. Although, I decided after celebrating my 10 year reunion all weekend, I'd take yesterday off. Oh well...it was a rest/x-training day. So today started my 16 week training for the Denver Rock and Roll Marathon. I had a 5 mile run tonight...should have been a fairly easy run...ha! Certainly was NOT especially after the weekend I had just had AND the 85 degree weather with no wind forgiveness at 6:30pm! But I did it and am ready to jump back into it all!

Father's Day Weekend

Happy Fathers Day Big Daddy!
Thank you for all you have done for us and given to us!
XOXO-K and A

Reid's parents visited us from South Dakota this weekend!

Hands down the best time I've had with them. We didn't do anything spectaular, it was just nice enjoying their company!
Reid took his dad to Mt Evans on Sunday. It is the highest paved road in North American...over 14000 ft.

Janet and I took Archer with us and shopped til we dropped! Always a good time!

To start the day...

Every morning my inbox has an inspiring quote from Runners World...

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise... it's a consistent reward for victory!

B.A.S.E. Jumping

Last night while roasting marshmallows...Reid informed Sarah and I (in great detail) about BASE JUMPING...

Here are the facts...

*100 x more dangerous than skydiving
*B: building
A: antennae
S: span (aka...bridge)
E: earth (aka...jumping off a cliff)
*Jumping off skyscrapers is illegal

--Reid has a hard time multitasking...Sarah and I are probing for the facts and he is trying to watch a fight--
Apparently there are more facts...maybe someday Reid will find his speech from highschool and share more...

Fargo Marathon...

Just some pics...out of order...

Yay!

Mile 9ish

DONE!

Strawberries and the Pool

Strawberries...all over the face!
This was our first weekend in many months where studying was not in the mix...looking forward to the upcoming 3 months of this! Archer LOVES the water...personally I wish there was a little fear of the water, but so far, no such luck! ;)

Welcome...

So I thought it would be neat to start a blog as the wife of a soon to be med student...the ups and downs, ins and outs. When this upcoming journey is complete (4 or so years) I hope to make it a little book for our family to look back on.
I'm also writing this blog as a 28 year old stay at home mom to the very handsome Archer Finn and also as me...Kacee...I am still finding "me". This spring a friend challenged me to be a better version of myself. Since the day I received the challenge, I've looked deep inside and decided to start a new journey of discovering a myself.

26.2 miles is MUCH more than a long run. (It was for me anyways) It's a true mental toughness check. I went through every emotion humanly possible last Saturday during my first marathon. I was excited (races in general do this to me)...nervous (hello...26.2 miles, anything could happen...I was entering the unknown!)...angry (when I would grab a water cup loooonging for a cool sip and then realized they put powerade in the cup instead)...bothered (really...rain and 20 mile an hour PLUS winds...then came the HEAT)...surprised (was this really my husband running with me...barefoot...for 2 whole miles?!!!)...lonely (in a 5 mile stretch I saw a ton of familiar faces...and then no one until mile 25.5...that's a very lonely time in between)...READY (I was so ready to do it above all emotions.) I needed this marathon to prove to myself that I was capable of doing something great...something only 1% of the popluation attempts. And I succeeded and fell in love even more with distance running. The marathon was such a personal journey more than anything. Im sure throughout this blog I'll make many references to the race and the passing thoughts I had that day. I can't help it. Running is my passion!

Here we are! 6:30am...ready to go! Sarah (in the middle) trained super hard with us...but 2 days prior found out she couldn't run due to medical reasons. Sad. But she was a very enthusiastic cheerleader along the way! Miss Kelsey (in the black)...rockstar! Had never ran in her life (well a little in highschool)...taught herself to run and finished in a lovely 5:05! About 5 years ago when I moved back from Connecticut Kels and I took a trip to Duluth to watch the Grandmas Marathon and see some friends. We stood at the finish tearing up and saying, "okay, we could do this." Ha...we just had to wait until our 9.9lb babies were born! Just to make it more amazing! (Our babes have NOT celebrated their 1st birthdays!)
I was shooting for a certain time...when I realized I wasn't going to make it, I aceepted it and kept going. I am still happy of my time...3:51! My quads...they weren't so happy by mile 20...and still aren't 100%! But we did it!

Almost there...

Arch and I landed in Fargo this afternoon. We were greeted by a beautiful 85 degree day! Perfect homecoming! The marathon is only 4 days away. I have mixed feelings...MIXED.

I saw a shirt today at the sport shop...

Front: 26.2 Miles...what could go wrong?

Back: named a runners GREATEST fears...from aid stations to freak bathroom breaks.

Again...MIXED emotions.

Big Cardboard Box

To quote a favorite book..."Little boy, so much depends on...

your big cardboard box."
